Antalya Cinema Protocol Signed

A cooperation protocol was signed between Akdeniz University and Akdeniz Film Production and Promotion Association to promote the city by shooting national and international films. Speaking at the signing ceremony held at Akdeniz University Rectorate, Rector Prof. Dr. Özlenen Özkan said that the protocol will be an important step for Antalya to open a new page in the cinema sector. Stating that Antalya is a unique city that generously exhibits the beauty of nature in every corner and inspires the human spirit with its cultural heritage blended with history, Özkan noted that the protocol aims to bring these riches of Antalya to the center of the cinema industry. Pointing out that Antalya is almost an open-air plateau with its natural and historical beauties, Özkan said, “Antalya has the potential to be an attractive attraction area for domestic and foreign producers with its geographical features. We also aim to work to attract film crews, equipment and new investments to the region by accelerating infrastructure works such as indoor film plateaus. The cultural and economic impact of cinema is undeniable. While movies promote the regions where they are shot on the international platform, they also greatly increase the tourist attraction potential of the cities where they are shot.” “As Akdeniz University, we aim to make Antalya one of the film production centers not only in Turkey but also in the world by realizing Antalya’s potential in the film industry,” Özkan said, adding that his efforts will continue to bring the city to the place it deserves in the world film industry. Doğacan Aktaş, President of the Mediterranean Film Production and Promotion Association, stated that with the protocol, they want to establish an infrastructure network for large cinema projects to come to the city. Stating that they strive for the establishment of incentives and plateaus for the shooting of national and international films in Antalya, Aktaş emphasized that they want to grow the cinema sector as well as tourism in the city and make it a brand. Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Seçil Deren Van Het Hof and Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşad Güdekli also attended the cooperation protocol.
